  Nandigama  is a small village in Nandigama (Teluguనందిగామ) Mandal in Krishna DistrictAndhra PradeshIndia. ithavaram is famous for the temples which had a great history for years. The mukkoti ekadasi is celebrated every year grandly in Nandigama.

Formation of village: Near by muneru(small selayeru apart of Krishna river) our old ancestors construct huts, after few years constructed sialayam temple. Ones up a time(1800’s) CYCLONE camed vanished all hut then they moved to height area and again construct huts. 
Near Nandigama we can see historical place Pallagirigattu,Sivalayam,Ramalayam(Nandigama).These places have historical importance, where Sri krishna devaraya had kept special interest in developing these places. Then the history of Ithavaram spread across the state...
Gram panchayats are local governments at the village. A gram panchayat can be set up in village population of 3800.The Sarpanch is the head of the Gram Panchayat. The elected members of the Gram Panchayat elect from among themselves a Sarpanch and a Deputy Sarpanch for a term of five years. The Sarpanch presides over the meetings of the Gram Panchayat and supervises its working. He implements the development schemes of the village. The Deputy Sarpanch, who has the power to make his own decisions, assists the Sarpanch in his work.
The Sarpanch has the responsibilities of
1.    Looking after street lights, construction and repair work of the roads in the villages and also the village markets, fairs, festivals and celebrations.
2.    Keeping a record of births, deaths and marriages in the village.
3.    Looking after public health and hygiene by providing facilities for sanitation and drinking water.
4.    Providing for education.
5.    Implementing development schemes for agriculture and animal husbandry.
In ten years back  the panchayat president is directly elected by village people. 
Nandigama is located 48 km north of Vijayawada and 46 km east of Kodada. The river Muneru flows in the outer part of the village. The river has agricultural fields on both sides. Ithavaram has four seasons; Summer is the longest extending from March to July. Temperatures reach 49 degrees in mid May.
The nearest airport is at Gannavaram and takes about 2 hours from there to Nandigama by road. Two flights, one from hyderabad and the other from bangalore run by kingfisher everyday one trip each. Alternatively, tourists coming by air can land in Hyderabad and take a taxi to Nandigama which will take about 4 to 5 hours.
The nearest source of railway from Nandigama is madhira which is 12 km from nandigama and another is vijaywada which is 50 km.
Nandigama is present in between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. The NH9 which connects Hyderabad and Vijayawada passes through Nandigama. The city is well connected to Vijaywada. From Hyderabad it is 220 km and Vijayawada is just 50 km away. You can enjoy a 45min ride over four lane road to Vijayawada. Be careful there is a bypass road which avoids the main town if you are traveling during night.
Kakani Venkata Ratnam College (known as KVR college), Nandigama has published a book "Nandigama Seema Vignana Chandrika" on the history, culture and many more of Nandigama. Copy of the same can be downloaded from magazine section of the college website http://www.kvrcollege.edu.in
Nandigama is famous for the education also. There is a private schools present in Ithavaram. KVR college is the Government Aided college in Nandigama.

For more than one decade K.V.R. College, Nandigama is producing several graduates and also post graduates in Computer Science. Recently several other private colleges are also offering Computer Science. Engineering colleges established in this region are also producing Technically qualified in both B.Tech and MCA.
